If you had told Tebogo Tseka a few years ago that she would swap chemical equations for cloud architectures, she might have laughed politely and gone back to her lab notes. Fast forward to today and she is not only a certified AWS Solutions Architect but also proof that career pivots can be as exciting as they are rewarding.

 

Her journey began with a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering, a field she dedicated 18 years to professionally. While exploring complex reactions and analytical techniques, curiosity nudged her toward data analytics and cloud computing. One Coursera course led to another, and before long she had earned three AWS certifications in just three months, completed a Java learnership, and conquered a string of challenging exams that would make any student jealous. Soon she was stepping into roles as AI Engineer, SDET, Scrum Master, and finally settling into the role of Solution Architect. She laughs when she says she still cannot quite believe it all happened so quickly, but it is a testament to investing in yourself and trusting the process.

 

I was reminded by Tebogo that you can be passionate about more than one thing and you are always free to chase the career you truly want. Her story is living proof that following your curiosity can lead to building a new and fulfilling path.

With her Serverless First mindset and passion for FinOps, she ensures solutions are smart, scalable, and sustainable.

When it comes to AWS, her favourite companion is Amazon Q CLI. It is an AI tool that understands AWS services, making troubleshooting far less daunting. She describes it as a very clever assistant that helps developers improve productivity. For her, that is the kind of tool that turns technical headaches into smoother problem solving sessions.

Her passion goes beyond her own work. She believes in empowering clients to serve international customers and scale their businesses in the cloud. Just as importantly, she wants to inspire her colleagues to embrace personal development and growth.
