Meet Sithembiso Mjoko, AWS DevOps Problem Solver
I will admit it. Much like web design once felt foreign to me, DevOps is another term that left me scratching my head. At first it honestly sounded like something out of Call of Duty or a secret military operation rather than a career in tech. The truth, as I have come to realise through people like Sithembiso Mjoko, is that DevOps is all about solving problems, simplifying systems, and keeping technology running smoothly.
If something is broken, chances are Sithembiso already knows about it before anyone else. His reputation comes from years of tackling tech challenges, starting with a campus career fair hosted by AWS. From that moment, his journey into AWS DevOps never slowed down.
Passion for Technology and Problem Solving
Passionate about turning ideas into reality and creating value for stakeholders, Sithembiso thrives at the intersection of technology and problem solving. Each project presents an opportunity to perform a little bit of tech magic.
Process Automation and AWS Expertise
Process automation is his playground. By automating repetitive tasks, he focuses on refining business logic and delivering smarter solutions. In his DevOps role, Sithembiso helps clients navigate AWS with flexibility. He provides modular services across the business value chain, allowing organisations to choose what works best.
He also challenges the common myth that simple AWS services are easy. The label may sound friendly, but as Sithembiso points out, simple does not always mean straightforward.
Orchestration, Containers, and Observability
Sithembiso explores orchestration, containers, and observability metrics to enhance scalability and resilience. These tools keep applications flexible, automated, efficient, and less likely to fail. This means late-night surprises for clients and developers are not likely.
Team Spirit at Big Beard Web Solutions
The strong team spirit is what makes Big Beard stand out for him. Everyone supports each other, believes in the work, and finds humour even in the chaos of innovation. According to Sithembiso, problem solving feels easier when you are working with people who genuinely root for each other.
Life Outside DevOps (No, not military ops)
Away from AWS, Sithembiso has two passions: gardening and homemade ice cream. His approach to problem solving can be summed up in one word: simplify. Drawing helps him visualise scenarios and transfer knowledge, while clarity defines his communication style.
Ice cream however, needs no clarification except maybe on how quickly it disappears. Looking back, he wishes he had believed in himself more when choosing a career path. Confidence may not be part of onboarding, yet it grows with every challenge overcome.
Looking Ahead: AWS Native Future
Sithembiso is excited about shaping Big Beard’s AWS journey. His career goal is to become a technically skilled CTO. His vision is for the company to be fully AWS native from production to operations. He believes that with the right team and AWS, any technically conceived idea can become reality.
When that milestone arrives, a celebratory scoop of his homemade ice cream will be guaranteed.
